Founded in 1968 in Coimbatore, the Nehru Group of Institutions (NGI) began as a center of educational excellence to uplift young minds in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Driven by the vision of Late Shri. P. K. Das and carried forward by his successors, NGI has empowered over 1,00,000 students in five decades. With branches across Tamil Nadu and Kerala, NGI offers programs from Architecture to Technology.
Our Vision
The curriculum seeks to produce imaginative designers who can balance sustainability, utility, and beauty in interior spaces to enhance quality of life. It also equips students to tackle challenging design problems. It encourages communication, teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, adaptation, and sustainability. In addition, it develops leaders, helps students comprehend human behavior, promotes experimentation and risk-taking, and gets graduates ready for lucrative jobs and entrepreneurial endeavors.
Our Mission
Interior design education blends creativity, theory, and technical proficiency. In addition to preparing students for professions in architecture, product design, and facilities management, it promotes innovation, problem-solving, and sustainable design. It promotes cooperation, teamwork, and keeping abreast of market developments. Along with these goals, the program encourages community involvement, critical thinking, and an inclusive, diverse, and respectful culture.

To provide high quality excellent education in the arena of technical and professional education and to impart knowledge in a structured fashion to the student community, late Shri.P.K.Das established the Nehru College of Education and Charitable Trust in the year 1968. Being a man of great vision, commitment, perseverance, dedication and devotion he pioneered revolutionary and innovative thoughts to revamp technical and professional education in the private sector. He was committed to the cause of the poor and social welfare and undertook various initiatives such as donating wheel-chairs, tailoring machines, and tricycles to the physically challenged, providing free education and medical treatment to the backward class, and donating homes for the homeless.
The Nehru Group of Institutions with well-conceived vision and missionary efforts is ardent and aggressive in the pursuit of fulfilling the aspirations and expectations of the universally recognized and reputed personality. The Chairman and Managing Trustee
Over five decades ago, Nehru Group of Institutions was established and right from the beginning, the institution has followed a unique approach to serve the community, be it students or the public, in general, with a vision of providing service through education and humanitarian works. Our conglomerate of 20 colleges is one of oldest organizations dedicated in Coimbatore and Kerala that has consistently worked towards empowerment and social change through Aeronautics, Architecture, Arts, Engineering, Science, Medical, Research and Technical education in India.
Being bestowed with the monumental responsibility of leading NGI with such rich heritage is a challenge by itself. I am proud that the rise of our institutions is not from the high-rise concrete structures and technological infrastructure, but comes entirely from its intricately intertwined learning process and human resources, which has been the focus on education during its 50 years of existence.
NGI was established primarily to promote research and collaborative educational programs that would eventually grow and develop into a globally known centre of excellence. It is also my belief that active engagement with corporate industry in the form of internship programs, group discussions, entrepreneur awareness programs and personal interactions with the top brass of the industry is essential for NGI to maintain thought leadership. Effective Teaching Methodology through transformational training, coaching, mentoring, and other instruments of leadership development will definitely see our students transform into entrepreneurs than mere job seekers.

In order to overcome the competition among many elite educational institutions, imparting
of quality education to future citizens to build a strong nation with the development of
villages and towns in all the basic sectors is very much required. Nehru Group of
Institutions, right from its inception is working in this direction through its
qualified, experienced, dedicated and committed faculty and staff members.
NGI is aiming to impart multidisciplinary education by incorporating critical thinking,
analytical and creative courses with experiential learning for carving & shaping the
students into polished pebbles or trimmed diamonds depending upon their ability. NGI
aims to impart ethical education to make aware about human values to the society. NEP
2020 shall be incorporated in phased manner so as to make students ready in 360 degrees.
